This month we meet Life Coach Andrea Bugslag from British Columbia, Canada. Read on to learn more about Andrea... About Andrea Bugslag: From: Victoria, BC, Canada. Business name: Life Coach Online Describe your coaching business in one sentence: I specialize in helping people challenge their story, and learn to set boundaries with confidence so they can step into who they are becoming with grace and strength. QUESTION 1: What one book should every coach read - and why? The Coaching Habit by Michael Bungay Stanier. This book provides a beautifully simple guide to tapping in to the coaching mindset. It's a reminder to let your client lead the way and models how intentional listening can increase the value in a session. QUESTION 2: Which website do you visit the most? Marie Forleo's website has a wealth of resources to help entrepreneurs get established and stay on track with the realities of running a business. QUESTION 3: Whom do you admire most? I admire the cycle-breakers, the people who were raised in the oppressive systems of decades past who have risen up and challenged what they were taught to make the world a kinder and more compassionate place. Their bravery and willingness to tackle discomfort to make the shifts in society are deeply appreciated. The work continues! QUESTION 4: What's your vision for your life? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? My vision for my life is to collect and put wisdom into practice within myself and my relationships. In 5 years I will have reached the peak performance level with my business having laid a sustainable and scalable foundation with value and care. My schedule is adaptable to fit my dynamic lifestyle, and it will be booked with high-achievers who aren't afraid to go after their dreams. The success and drive are already present, so my time is spent continuing to find ways to add value and grow as a coach. QUESTION 5: What is your top goal at the moment? I am currently working on a workshop designed as a guide to helping people "adult" with confidence and ease! QUESTION 6: What has been your favourite coaching moment so far? Honestly, it's hearing my children use the coaching tools in practice as their pre-frontal cortex develops. It brings hope for future generations as emotional intelligence is becoming a greater part of social awareness. Becoming a coach gives me tools and vocabulary to embrace the growth process in my own life as well as advocate for my clients. QUESTION 7: What are your Top 3 favourite coaching tools and/or resources? I love using many different tools to help the client summarize their strengths and stretches. The Wheel is my 'go to' for helping the client hone in on where they would like to focus their attention for the first session as we get to know each other. The VIA character strengths and CliftonStrengths are fabulous for helping understand the unique client makeup and drive. QUESTION 8: What do you love most about being a coach? I love when clients have a-ha moments and you get to experience a sense of renewed calm and release with them. It's being present to a shift that is quite a privilege. I'm grateful that I can experience that with them. QUESTION 9: Tell us a secret about you... I was a micro-preemie. I weighed 1 lb 13 oz when I was born. QUESTION 10: If you could change one thing in our world, what would it be? And how would you go about it? If I could wave a magic wand and change one piece of the world, it would be to have people access their whole knowledge rather than getting stuck in 'animal' brain. To have awareness of the mind, heart and gut all come into play when making decisions and living together. I think this would increase world security, safety and kindness. People would have their needs met because we would all be less selfish and more connected. In the absence of a magic wand, I would do this by modelling emotional intelligence and coaching people to different levels of awareness. As more people can tap into this sense of peace and purpose, this increases the ripple effect of needs being met.
